Not a bad bookOct 27, 2009
By Justin Vieira Informative and almost all color photos. Wouldnt bet my life on this book alone but its worth its weight. Its a really good book if your in the Northeast usa. Wish there was a more in depth poison look alike section.

Love This Book!Mar 12, 2011

I bought this book for homeschooling. My 8 year old daughter LOVES it! She's become very good at identifying plants. Even in the backyard she has found edibles! We're hoping to take it on a camping trip soon and see how much food we can forage!!! I love to see my children, not only acquiring survival skills, but also connecting with the earth and realizing the bounty God/nature has provided for us. Food does not come from packages from grocery stores, it comes from the earth! As a society we've become all too disconnected from our food. One thing we've learned as a family, when you eat as God intended, all is well. Every aspect of life is transformed for the better. This book has been a great resource in furthering our journey as raw vegans.

Good but depndsJan 05, 2011
By Doc Alright this new edition is a good book. Lots of color pictures and good descriptions. There are some issues though. I live in Texas and either we don't have as many as other areas or they didn't really cover what we do have but there is hardly any of my local flora in that book. However it will still be in my day pack anywhere I go and as far as I have found this is better than most and as good as any.

This book is in fact a very good guide to one serious about utilizing the natrual bounty to augment a garden or grocery store. As a guide it is very easy to follow. I read one review that mentioned it wasn't the best for the west. This is probaly true but as I've spent five years as a professional guide in the southwest, there isn't much else thats edible that isn't in this book. As always, never depend on one resource. Use this book but educate yourself further if your planning on foraging for real.
