I thought a 4 cycle engine meant no more cranking and cranking the way you have to do with a 2 cycle engine. I carefully followed the starting procedure: switch on, pump the little bulb, choke on, hold lever, pull cord, let run, go to half choke, let run, choke off, let run, and release lever. But it never ran well enough to do the final step of releasing the lever before it died. Couldn't start again. Thinking the gasoline might be old I got fresh gas and emptied and refilled it. Going through the startup procedure and cranking and cranking won't start it. It might be my fault for using 6 months old gas, but it runs the lawn mower just fine.
